When the ocean whispers — a poem

--

Old Orchard Beach, Maine, 2022

When the ocean whispers, listen.

When the ocean rumbles, stop.

When it stills and calms, be humble.

Listen to her talk.

When the ocean whispers, listen.

Let her surround your feet.

She’ll move Earth around to touch you, and once she has,

you’ll never want to leave.

When the ocean whispers, listen.

When she roars, feel her pain.

You won’t see her tears; they’re hidden.

But just go dancing in the rain.

When the ocean whispers, listen.

When the ocean rumbles, stop.

When it stills and calms, join her

because She’s waiting for you to talk.

Pay attention, now, this is important.

Pay attention, now, don’t breakaway.

When the ocean whispers, listen.

It’s in her whispers you’re whisked away.
